Our Mission and Vision

  

Mission:

Our mission is to be the uniting force in our community by empowering parents, caregivers, schools, and community partners 

in supporting teens in developing coping and life skills, paired with a career and/or college pathway, 

that allows them to thrive in today’s world and successfully launch into their futures.


Vision:

Our vision is a world where all teens have foundational life skills, supportive caring adults, united communities, and hope for the future.  


Our Why

Mental Health Statistics

  • 2013-2019: 1 in 5 teens had a major depression at some point 
  • 26.9% of teens ages 12-17 have one or more mental, emotional, developmental, or behavioral problems (NSCH, 2019).
  • 36.7% of high school students reported feelings of sadness or hopelessness in the past year. This percentage is higher for females (46.6%), Hispanic students (40.0%), and LGBTQ+ students (66.3%) (CDC, 2020).


Suicide Rates

  • Suicide is the second-leading cause of death for teens and young adults, ages 10-34 (CDC, 2022).
  • Suicide rates increased 50% from 2007-2018, (CDC, June 11, 2021)


Increasing Concerns during the Pandemic

  • 69.1% of 12-17 year olds perceived that the COVID-19 pandemic negatively affected their mental health (SAMHSA, 2021).
  • Between 2019 and 2020, there was a 30.7% increase in emergency room visits for mental health reasons for children ages 12-17 (CDC, 2020).
  • Girls ages 12-17 reported 50% more ER visits for suicide attempts in 2021 than in 2019, (CDC, June, 11, 2021)
  • 18.8% of high school students reported having seriously considered suicide in the past year. This percentage is higher among females (24.1%), and LGBTQ+ (46.8%) (CDC, 2020).

Our Outcomes

  • Teens ages 11-18 from 13+ different countries 
  • 60% Black – 20% Latinx – 5% Asian – 15% Caucasian
  • 100% High School Graduation Rate: closing achievement gap  of +/-20%
  • 100% College and Career Track: college, tech school & entrepreneurs 
  • 15+ college scholarships  
  • Over 6,000 meals provided to teens 
  • Over 20 teens who were considering death by suicide received love, support and hope for the future
  • Sourced: housing, jobs, free furnishings, laptops, bikes,  

 clothing, medical/dental care, coats, shoes, food, etc.
